The funeral of Miss Sattie Smith was held at the Christian  Church on Saturday morning.  There was a good attendance in spite  of the terrible weather. The body was laid to rest beside those  of her parents in the Presbyterian Cemetery.  Sara Olive Smith  was born at Pine Grove, near Waveland Aug 18, 1864. She was the  second of three children born to Frederick and Marsena Smith.   The older sister, Mary, died Oct 18, 1888; Mrs. Marsena Smith,  July 2, 1891 and Frederick Smith Nov 3, 1901; leaving of the  family on Charles F Smith and his little daughter Marsena.  To  the latter the ceased woman certainly filled a mother's part and  the future of the little girl was her chief care during her final  illness.  She joined the Christian Church under the ministry of  Rev. Mr. Ewing in 1899 and was active in Church work until  prevented by failing health, belonging to the Ladies' Aid and CE  Societies. - transcribed and donated by Karen Bazzani Zach
